Why is there bad internet?

I've been meaning to post this for a little while, but I keep forgetting.

Simply put, this is one of the most ridiculous websites I've ever encountered.

I give you www.yyyyyyy.info

Now, I'm pretty certain that this is a 'bad design' that is 'bad by design'. There's actually a few different versions of the same horrible, so feel free to reload the page a couple times.

If you'd like, you're welcome to see some really bad sites that are just bad.

It's one of the wonderful things about the internet that basically anyone can create their own page or site. The problem is that the internet, like so many other things, just because you can do a thing doesn't mean that you should.

However, I'm sure the same can be said of me and my blogging, in that just because I can blog, doesn't mean that I should.

It's rather sad that two of these sites are "Christian" ones. From experience, there are well designed religious websites - but hey - here's another bad one for you -

There are a lot of bad websites out there, and I pulled these, more or less, at random. As a rule of thumb, most small non-profits have bad websites. AA, small Church Orgs, independent animal shelters, shriners, masons, et cetera and so on. It's almost always the same story, too: they can't afford to hire anyone, so they either nominate someone who has no idea what their doing, or else there's that one person who thinks they know what they're doing.

The one you posted is pretty bad, but it at least has some decent design elements, which are just ruined by gawdy animated gifs and that stupid bandwidth eating death counter.
