episodic gaming... the good, the bad.. and the...

gamasutra.com just posted an article about episodic gaming. it's pretty interesting to read their take on things. there's not much there i can't whole heartedly agree with...

yes it's new. yes it's unproven... but it makes a lot of sense. it seems like so many things these days are 'episodic'. television shows, comic books, magazines, viral videos... etc. etc. the point is, episodes work. with gaming, the concept seems solid. instead of the long development cycle, they can shorten it up, and get feedback faster so that the next release, which we get far sooner, can be so much better.

anyway, i believe in the concept, even if you don't...

well... now they have algorithms to hire people. it won't be long before there won't be any need for the actual people. i expect there will soon be an algorithm to write new algorithms.

thrasher. a magazine from my youth apparently still exists. i'm as surprised as you... i guess as time went on i just stopped believing in it... like santa clause. well, as it turns out, they're celebrating 25 years of being the greatest skateboarding magazine ever, so you can see the first 12 issues for free on their website.

this was posted on a forum i frequent... it's an incredibly fun piece of flash work... it's hard not to love it... try it out. the physics are amazing, the game play is fantastic. try and not play it for hours at a time.
