... and I'm feeling.
I'm not sure what it is that I'm feeling, exactly, but, I know I'm feeling it. It's as if there's some sort of weight that's settled into my chest, and it's just sitting there, trying desperately to force gravity to do it's bidding. I haven't succumbed yet, I'm still standing... well, lying here in bed. I can't explain exactly why I feel the way that I do, perhaps it would help if I had some idea of what it is I'm feeling.
I guess that's neither here nor there, because, as we all know, it's best to just ignore these things, they have a way of going away all by themselves. You could say they sink, or perhaps become compressed until they are a tiny ball of something tucked out of the way. Hopefully, where these things end up is actually a massive, cavernous pit, that way, they can remain hidden so that I never have to deal with them again.
*Note* - Since I'm on my laptop, and the mouse of flaky, I'm not bothering with any links... so... oh well, just read stuff.
The Colbert Report is on...
I have to admit that I generally enjoy Stephen Colbert, and, while he can sometimes get to a point where I really would rather sit down to a meal of my own vomit than to listen to him for another moment. He does have a huge plus going for him, he spells his name correctly.
There's one thing that I really hate about his show. The fact that whenever he introduces the show, he tries to pronounce Report the way that he pronounces Colbert, as if the glaringly obvious T is silent. I just wonder, if deep down inside, he really thinks that people will pick it up and run with it.
Seriously though, for the most part, I preferred his antics as an occasional thing on the Daily Show, I don't mind flipping it on every now and again.
Finally, something that doesn't work right...
OK, that's not entirely true, there's been a few things that haven't worked right. Hell, very little seems to work right for me most of the time, but, in this case I am talking about Windows Vista, and a particular piece of hardware that seems unwilling to cooperate on the a 64-bit environment.
I refer to the Belkin Nostromo SpeedPad n52. First, let me explain what it is. It's a game controller, that, is basically just a 1/3 keyboard, which, under your average plug and play os, appears to the system as an HID-Compliant keyboard. How does this work? Well, simply put, it's just a little device with keys, and, so, just like any other keyboard, when you press keys, it sends signals to the computer, which the system interprets and translates into various actions. I press 'F', and 'F' appears... it's like magic.
How does this device help me? I'm glad I asked that. It's a game controller, which is designed to be more comfortable to play games. Does it make me a better gamer? Of course not, but it helps.
Anyway, what's my problem? Well, this device, which is basically just a partial keyboard, doesn't work correctly under the 64-bit version of Vista. What's the deal there?
I mean, I can plug it in, and the system will tell me that it's found hardware, but, immediately you know something's wrong, because it told me it's found hardware. Normally, the system will tell you that it's installed hardware. When it tells you merely that it's found it, that means it hasn't the first bloody clue what to do with it. But, to be kind, it does present you with a series of options, 2 of which involve magically finding the drivers you need... drivers that it would have installed had they been there in the first place, but, being a loyal Windows user, I still ask it nicely to just go right ahead and give it another shot. When I do this, it actually feigns action for a moment, then a screen comes up to tell me that it's install a mouse of some kind, but it's scared, and would like it very much if I would just give Windows a big warm hug.
Rather than hug Windows, I just curse at it and mash the keypad of my would be controller. This, however, leads to the discover that it's actually functioning just fine as a keyboard, although the system seems confused as to why it's happening. The problem is, that when you try to install the software, which is used to configure this glorious device, so that you can take advantage of all it's great features, you find that it just doesn't work.
That... is a problem.
I don't understand why this doesn't work, but, I'm under the distinct impression that this is all Belkin's fault.
Of course, none of this matters as I don't really do my gaming under Vista... and the n52 works fine under XP....
and that's it... I know, it's pretty thin.... deal with it. Back another time, probably.
